Pakistan : The Patient who refuses to take medication
#RAWbleedsLahore was trending in Pakistan after the ghastly bomb blast in Lahore which targeted Christians on Easter. Even though the responsibility was taken by Pakistani Taliban, the netizens in Pakistan were hell bent on blaming everything on India. Everybody knows that making conspiracy theories is the national pastime of Pakistan. Some of the narratives in Pakistan is worthy of being published as fiction novels.
I want to make one thing clear, no one is giving a clean chit to RAW of any other agency. But one can argue that at best such agencies can provide indirect support especially to terrorist agencies like TTP who openly say that India is their sworn enemy. This being said, why doesn’t Pakistan look inwards to find out what’s the root cause. You cannot breed snakes in the backyard and expect to remain unharmed.
Dawn. Com is one of my favorite websites, its articles are informative and largely unbiased. But what I enjoy more is comment section after each article. Its interesting to note that a majority of people readily point fingers towards America or Israel and of course India. Why do they do that? It absolves them from the moral responsibility to try and do something themselves. Playing victim is the easiest way out.
One doesn’t have to look far to see the hollowness of this national psyche of Pakistan. On the same day, a group of religious fanatics kept the capital city on hostage. They were pro-Qadri protestors with insane demands from the government. Mumtaz Qadri was the bodyguard who killed the former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer because the latter had ‘suggested a rethink’ of the infamous blasphemy law. Qadri was hanged in Feb 2016.The protesters were demanding that Qadri be declared a martyr and shariat law be implemented in Pakistan. These people literally held the heart of the Pakistani capital under siege for hours. The conspiracy theorists just need to reflect on the scenes in Islamabad to realise what’s wrong with their beloved motherland. However, judging by the past, that seems unlikely. Pakistan is the patient who does not take medications and keeps pointing fingers at the person who gave it the disease.
